A single run made all the difference as Marshfield dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 baseball decision to Marist Catholic at home Tuesday night. The Pirates battled throughout the league contest but couldn't quite generate enough offense in the narrow defeat.

The loss drops Marshfield to 6-9 overall and 2-5 in conference play, making every remaining game crucial as the regular season winds down. Despite the setback, the Pirates showed they can compete with quality opponents, keeping pace with the Spartans throughout the tight affair.

Marshfield managed just enough offense to stay within striking distance, but Marist Catholic's pitching held firm when it mattered most. The Pirates' defense kept them in contention, preventing any big innings that could have put the game out of reach.

With conference standings tightening, Marshfield will need to build on the positives from this competitive performance. The Pirates have shown flashes of their potential this season and will look to put together a strong finish in their upcoming games.
