Marshfield Pirates Softball 2-23 Baker / Powder Valley / Pine Eagle

The road proved unforgiving for Marshfield softball Thursday, as the Pirates dropped a 23-2 non-league decision to Baker in eastern Oregon. The lopsided loss highlighted the challenges facing the Pirates in their spring campaign.
Baker jumped out early and never looked back, building a commanding lead that put the game out of reach by the middle innings. The Pirates managed to scratch across two runs but couldn't generate consistent offensive pressure against the Bulldogs' pitching.
The defeat drops Marshfield to 2-9 on the season as they continue working through a difficult stretch of their schedule. Despite the tough result, the Pirates have shown flashes of potential in their two victories this spring.
Head coach and players will look to regroup quickly as they return home to familiar surroundings. The Pirates have several opportunities ahead to build momentum and develop the younger players gaining valuable varsity experience.
Marshfield returns to action next week, hoping to bounce back from the road struggles and find their rhythm in the batter's box.
