Visiting Pilot Rock wasted little time establishing dominance in Thursday's softball opener, building an insurmountable lead to defeat Myrtle Point 22-5 at home. The Saints struggled to contain the Rockets' offensive attack in their first game of the 2026 spring season.

Pilot Rock's explosive scoring put pressure on Myrtle Point from the early innings, as the Saints found themselves chasing runs throughout the contest. Despite managing to plate five runs against the visiting squad, Myrtle Point couldn't match the pace set by their non-league opponents.

The lopsided defeat drops the Saints to 0-1 to start the campaign, but head coach will look to use the experience as a learning opportunity for a young roster still finding its rhythm. Season openers often reveal areas needing improvement, and Myrtle Point will have plenty to work with in upcoming practices.

The Saints will look to bounce back quickly as they continue their early-season schedule. With league play still ahead, there's ample time for Myrtle Point to regroup and show the improvement that comes with more game experience.
