Marshfield's boys soccer team kept its unbeaten run intact Thursday, defeating Marist Catholic 3-1 at home in Coos Bay, Oregon, in a Sky-Em League (4A) contest. The Pirates controlled the match from start to finish, putting three goals past the Spartans while limiting them to a single score. The victory pushes Marshfield to 12-0-2 on the season and a perfect 9-0 in conference play, numbers that reflect a team that has been remarkably consistent all fall. Playing at home in front of their Coos Bay faithful, the Pirates once again demonstrated the defensive structure and finishing ability that have defined their season. The 3-1 margin was a comfortable one, and Marshfield never appeared in serious danger of letting the lead slip. With the regular season winding down, the Pirates are well-positioned to make a deep postseason run. Their next opportunity to extend the streak comes later this month.
