A wild offensive showcase at Brookings-Harbor turned into a heartbreaker Wednesday as the Bruins dropped a 19-14 softball decision to visiting North Bend/Reedsport in non-league action. The contest featured 33 total runs and plenty of back-and-forth drama before the visitors pulled away for the victory. Brookings-Harbor kept pace throughout much of the game, showing resilience at the plate to answer North Bend/Reedsport's offensive surges. Both teams took advantage of favorable hitting conditions and aggressive baserunning to pile up runs in what became one of the highest-scoring games of the early season. The loss evens Brookings-Harbor's record at 4-4 as they navigate through a challenging April schedule. Despite the setback, the Bruins demonstrated they can compete offensively with quality opponents when the bats are clicking. The team will look to bounce back and build on the positive offensive showing when they return to action. Coach and players alike will take confidence from their ability to score runs while working to tighten up defensively moving forward.
