Siuslaw Vikings Softball 9-7 TBD

Two runs proved to be the difference as Siuslaw softball held off a determined visiting squad in a back-and-forth affair Monday afternoon. The Vikings improved to 3-1 on the young season with the 9-7 non-league victory at home.

Both offenses came to play in what turned into a slugfest, with 16 total runs crossing the plate over seven innings. Siuslaw managed to build enough cushion early to withstand a late rally attempt from their opponents.

The win keeps the Vikings trending in the right direction after dropping their season opener. Monday's offensive explosion suggests the lineup is beginning to find its rhythm as conference play approaches.

'We're starting to see the pieces come together,' said one observer following the contest. 'The bats are waking up at the right time.'
